The England Football Charity is focused on activities that benefit two groups where there will be the most impact – those from a lower socio-economic group and those with a disability.
To understand why, here’s some of the challenges these groups face.
lower life expectancy; 51.9 years those in the most deprived areas vs. 70.6 years on average
of the most financially vulnerable do not have household access to the internet, and some do not have access to any form of telephony
more prevalence of obesity in the most deprived areas, when compared to the least deprived
less daily parental engagement in developmental activities like playing and reading, equating to 240 hours a year
in activity levels over the last 5 years, and are the only social-economic group to have done so
more likely that 11-year-olds from the lowest socio-economic groups will display the worst behaviour problems, compared to the highest
additional life costs a month if you’re disabled, to have the same standard of living as non-disabled households
that disabled people to live in material deprivation than the rest of the population
as many disabled people aged 16 years and over in England reported feeling lonely “often or always” as non-disabled people
of disabled people aged 16 to 64 years in the UK were in employment, compared with 83% for non-disabled people
disabled people feel there’s a lot of prejudice against those with a disability
average well-being ratings in the UK than those for non-disabled people for happiness, worthwhile, anxiety and life satisfaction
